What is Barna Labs?

According to Barna, 59% of young people leave the church….

Barna Labs is a year-long web-based training from the Barna team. There will be one topic covered each month starting at the end of February. Each web-based session will be 1 to 1.5 hours in length and can be viewed from your personal computer on the air date or later when is convenient for you schedule. Gleaned from their own research and statistics, the training will focus on how to engage young people in the church. Some of the topics that will be covered include:

Engaging Millennials* with the Bible
Discipling in an age of screens, narcissism and pop culture
Communicating in "Digital Babylon"
Connecting vocation (or calling) to discipleship
Teaching deep theological truths to Millennials
Understanding and influencing Millennials' morality
Applying research findings to enhance your ministry

Why are we doing it?

If you go to any church service, event, or conference you’ll notice that the age group that is missing is the 18-30 year olds. Barna Group has found 59% of young people are not returning to church. It is a major problem facing the church today, because these young people are our future. You can find a brief introduction video at our welcome site.

At Agape House we are committed to finding a solution to this problem with God’s help. We have a vision of the next generation becoming fully integrated into the church in a way that allows them to continue to be relevant in society (you can watch a video message by Ps. Kung-Li). We believe that a group of people with a shared hope and vision can make a difference. We believe that the Barna Labs is a critical step in moving towards a better understanding of the challenges facing the church today. What are we doing?

By Participating in Barna Labs with Agape House Fellowship you will have the opportunity to:

10 Monthly web-based seminars from Barna Group
Participate in an online discussion forum. The forum will be an opportunity to discuss what you’ve heard, post questions, and interact with others.
Meet once a month with like-minded people for a in person time of discussion, prayer, and encouragement with others who share the vision for the next generation and/or dealing with the struggles of having teens and young adults themselves.
